Police in Renfrew and Arnprior spent the past month cracking down on noisy cars and are now sharing the results.
The OPP say their local “Operation Silencer” initiative saw 104 charges laid for excessively loud mufflers and exhaust systems, cars that made too much smoke, and other illegal modifications made to cars in the area.
They also paid special attention to unsafe conditions and aggressive driving behaviours that often accompany noise violations.
Police are asking the community to work with them to keep our roads safe, and that Operation Silencer was rolled out specifically because of growing concerns regarding unnecessarily loud cars in Renfrew County.
It’s the driver’s responsibility to ensure their car meets the requirements of provincial law, including their mufflers and exhausts.
