It’s the little things that set Scott and Sons Hardware from the rest, as myFM’s Small Business Week continues.
Manager Jeff Scott says the store, right across from Town Hall at 150 Raglan St. South, has been family run since 1917. To him, being a small business means going the extra mile for their customers.
It’s a mindset that Scott has expected from the people he’s worked with since taking the role of manager and includes being on-call for customers when the need arises.
Jeff and his brother, Paul, are the third generation of Scotts who have run the business just across from Town Hall along Renfrew’s downtown core.
He’s been around the store since he was young and says succeeding as a small business means getting to know your customer.
Jeff says Scott and Sons has made it through some tough stretches as it passed down the family tree, and the resilience built from standing the test of time helped when the COVID-19 pandemic hit small businesses.
Scott adds that the store benefited during the pandemic by being a Purolator depot, which allowed them to open up more than they would have otherwise.
