Where you go for some health services might change next year.
The Renfrew County District Health Unit is expected to formally announce the intent to leave their office on 450 O’Brien Road in Renfrew.
County Councilor Peter Emon sits on the Health Unit board and says the decision will not only affect people in Renfrew and Arnprior, but also parts of Whitewater Region, Greater Madawaska, Horton, McNab/Braeside, Admaston/Bromley, and part of Bonnechere Valley.
Emon tells myFM that the brief written motion that was presented at the meeting left him with plenty of questions.
Ultimately, Emon asked for a record vote on the motion which passed 7-2. He was one of the two votes against, as there wasn’t enough there to convince him that leaving the O’Brien Road location would not impact service.
The lease for the Health Unit’s current Renfrew office is up on June 30th next year and, in the meantime, Emon suggests that people who use it get in touch with their local officials.
Emon says the motion that passed didn’t spell out what would happen after the Health Unit leaves the O’Brien location, but he expects a plan to be put forward soon.
