Painted Sharks is a movie that was filmed in the Ottawa Valley.
Director Brian Lutes says the opening and closing scenes were shot at Sandy’s Deli in Renfrew, many outdoor scenes were filmed in Pembroke and Petawawa and some interior sets in Arnprior.
There will be two sold out showings of the movie this week, one in Nepean, the other at the Algonquin Cinemas in Pembroke.
Lead actress Robynne Eaton is originally from Pembroke and currently living in Toronto and says it was nice to come back home to shoot the movie.
Lutes says the Ottawa Valley is so welcoming and he plans to come back to film another project in the area in May or June 2023.
Painted Sharks is set in the Summer of 1979 and tells the story of a woman who struggles to escape the emotional pain and constant threats of violence against her and her two children at the hands of her controlling boyfriend.
