Kate Windle
Kate Windle wants to focus on lowering Renfrew’s debt as she campaigns for Mayor.
Windle is a local businesswoman who has served on Town Council on three separate occasions. In a video posted to her social media accounts, Windle says balancing the town’s budget is key to attracting businesses to town.
She points to a massive disparity between this year’s facilities and roadwork budget and projects that are dipping into the town’s reserve money as topics she would like to work with the new council on.
For reference, Windle points to last year’s project along Stewart Street which alone would have come in over the total budget for roadwork in the town this year.
Windle stresses the need for a sensible approach to spending in the new term, noting that desired attractions like a pool are not feasible until Renfrew gets its debt under control.
While she has been knocking on doors and speaking with residents, an illness left Windle unable to attend a recent All Candidates Night. She’s been running a digital campaign as she recovers.
Windle is one of five people running for Mayor in Renfrew, including Callum Scott, Tom Sidney, Sandi Heins, and Mike Coulas.
Renfrew will choose its Mayor and Council, as well as the French Separate School Board Trustee position on October 24th.
