Sandi Heins is in the running to take back the title of Mayor in Renfrew
Heins is a member of the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Board of Directors, and was as Mayor in town from 1998 to 2010. She most recently served as part of Renfrew’s current town council.
She says it’s an exciting time for Renfrew, with the upcoming highway expansion that will bring a lot of economic growth to the town and work on facilities like the Ma-Te-Way Centre currently underway.
However, as we look forward to more people and businesses making the move into Renfrew over the next few years, she warns that the town can’t forget the people already living and working locally.
Heins adds that more people and businesses will mean a bigger tax base for the town and more money to go around for infrastructure and services, such as health care. Heins believes that will be crucial for the town to bring more doctors in as Renfrew’s population begins to grow.
The cost of living in Renfrew is another key issue for Heins as she tells myFM that the town needs a sound financial plan moving forward that focuses on making the town affordable to live in and attractive to people looking to become part of the community.
One of five people in the running for the position this election, Heins says she’s a dedicated and experienced option for Mayor who will do the homework needed for the benefit of the town.
Renfrew will cast it’s ballots on October 24th.
