The Town of Arnprior held a flag raising ceremony today at Noon to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation that is marked September 30th.
Mayor Walter Stack says this is the second year the event, a Federal Holiday, is being recognized.
Stack says the day is one of deep meaning.
While the orange flag (replacing the Town banner this week), remains raised through Thursday, it will be lowered in respect on Friday September 30th.
A commemorative bench was also unveiled at the intersection of Elgin and Madawaska Street, next to Town Hall.
The bench was the first initiative recommended by Arnprior’s Inclusivity and Diversity Committee.
