The Renfrew Wolves had plenty of opportunities, but were done in by the man-advantage during Friday night’s 3-2 loss against the Carleton Place Canadians as the Jr. A Hockey season gets underway in the Ottawa Valley.
A penalty for too many men on the ice would allow Carleton Place to take the lead early in the first, as Matteo Disipio would find the back of the net for the first goal of the game. The Wolves would find an equalizer a few minutes later, as the team would swarm the net with a flurry of close-calls before Jace Letourneau was able to bring things level at 1-1.
Gino Colangelo took advantage of another power play early in the second to give Carleton Place the lead, 2-1. They’d add to their lead in the third with another goal from Dylan Pollock. Renfrew would connect on the power-play themselves, as Jamie Hylands would bring the game within one with just over two minutes left.
The Wolves were busy around Canadians goalie Joe Chambers, who saved 37 of 39 shots on goal in the winning effort. Sebastian Resar, taking over starting duties in Renfrew for Will Craig, made 20 stops on 23 attempts.
The Renfrew Wolves will look to rebound from the loss on Sunday night when they head to Nepean for a game with the Raiders.
