Renfrew Victoria Hospital is reassuring the community that their facilities are still open, as emergency rooms across Ontario have recently seen temporarily shut downs.
CEO Julia Boudreau tells myFM that staffing shortages have caused the strain on our health care system.
Boudreau says that local health care services are “staying afloat” in big part to the hard work of hospital staff and managers, as well as local physicians.
The emergency room at Renfrew Victoria Hospital has seen an increase in visits recently, but Boudreau says it’s still open to handle your health concerns. She does remind you, however that the triage will send patients with urgent cases in for treatment first.
Hospitals across the province are dealing with a shortage of health care staff in recent days, which Boudreau says is being caused by absences due to COVID, fatigue, burnout, as well as vacation time.
Boudreau thanks all the staff at RVH and our local physicians. She says they have all been putting in extra shifts and longer hours to keep a full slate of health care services ready for the community.
