Take it slow through construction zones and obey the posted warnings and signs.
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP are reaching out to drivers on local roads this summer as road work season is well underway.
Keep an eye out for signage and people directing traffic through the affected areas and follow their direction.
They add that it’s a Highway Traffic Act offence to disobey the STOP and SLOW signs handled by a person or device directing traffic in an area under construction.
Speed limits are often lower in areas where work is being done as uneven surfaces, narrowed lanes, as well as construction workers and vehicles all present a hazard on your commute.
The OPP remind you that speeding in a construction zone with workers present will cost you double in fines.
