You may have noticed it towering over Barnet Boulevard, but the giant crane brought in to help the construction of Lepine Apartments’ new amenities building will soon be back on the road.
Construction Manager Kevin Tomas tells myFM the crane, which towers over the new six-storey property, will most likely be wrapping up it’s job in Renfrew by Thursday.
Tomas says the 500 tonne crane is one of just two available in the Ottawa Valley and is in high demand. However, it was necessary to bring it in to lift heavy exterior wall panels over the front of the building and into place on the rear.
Using smaller cranes would required roads to be made on the rear side of the building, which would have delayed the project. Instead, the sky-scraping piece of equipment has made quick work of the building’s exterior walls as they get ready for work on the inside.
The amenities building will offer a lounge space, swimming pool, and gym for Lepine residents once completed.
