On 25 occasions since 1992, friends and family have competed for the Cross Street Cup. Now, you’re invited to watch who raises it the 26th time.
Louie Karras, Founder of Renfrew’s Road Hockey Legaue, spoke with myFM about the origins of the Cross Street Cup.
Karras estimates that over 150 different competitors have teamed up to challenge for their association’s biggest prize since it’s inception, as people who knew others who were taking part were invited on a in-the-know basis.
While being in the league is a private affair, they always appreciate an audience for the big tournament which rounds out their yearly schedule.
Between thirty and thirty five players will descend on the Ma-Te-Way Centre Arena on July 31st, looking to be the team that wins this year’s Cross Street Cup. The tournament gets underway at 11:30 in the morning.
