Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre is recognizing Ontario Power Generation for their contributions to their learning experience, and even our elected representatives have taken notice.
Laura Lapiniskie was in attendance on behalf of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke M.P.P. John Yakabuski on June 23rd alongside representatives from Ontario Power Generation to congratulate Shaw Woods on receiving OPG’s Corporate Citizen Program.
The ongoing sponsorship has a commitment of $2,500 annually between 2020 and 2024. Fred Blackstein, Co-Chair for Shaw Woods, says the grant money has allowed them to continue operation through challenging times during the pandemic and to foster responsible environmental stewardship through educational self directed learning.
Senior Manager for Renewable Generation, Asta Wallace, says Shaw Woods “encourages environmental education and stewardship, two things that OPG is committed to supporting.”
The continued funding will help Shaw Woods’ ongoing operations and programming, which teaches thousands of Renfrew County and area students and residents each year.
