We’re finding more information about the relationship between CRINS (The Canadian Radiocommunications Information and Notification Service), and the nation’s telecommunications companies- in Arnprior’s case specifically, Rogers Communications.
Town Mayor Walter Stack says David Joy’s “Stop the Tower” presentation to Municipal Council June 27th pressed representatives on Health Canada’s “Safety Code 6” on emitted radiation- a document dating from 2013 and still in use.
Stack worries that CRINS is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
The Mayor says if the Town can’t be sure of the independence of CRINS, perhaps the municipality should be looking elsewhere.
Staff will report back to representatives about the complexities of CRINS affiliation with the telecommunications industry before any decisions are made on the matter.
CRINS allegedly liaises between the telecommunications industry and host municipalities over the siting of towers on urban lands- in Arnprior’s case, a 40 metre tower is proposed at the intersection of of Edward and McGonigal Streets.
