The Township of Whitewater Region has promoted from within for the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Ivan Burton was formally appointed the new CAO for the Township of Whitewater Region at a special council meeting held on Monday, June 27th, 2022. Burton has worked with the Township since 2019 as the as the Manager of Community Development. Before joining Whitewater Region, he worked as a planner in the Town of Renfrew and the City of Clarence-Rockland for 10-years.
Burton says he looks forward to working closely with council, staff and the community to ensure the continued success and growth in Whitewater Region.
He will officially take over the position as CAO on July 11th and plans to continue to provide support for the Community Development department until a replacement is found.
In his time with the Township, Burton says he’s proud of the work he’s done with the business retention and expansion program and is also looking ahead to implementing the findings of a growth study to support new lands for commercial and residential development.
Whitewater Region Mayor Michael Moore says council is confident that Ivan has the skills, experience, and acumen to lead the Whitewater team adding this is a great example of succession planning.
Reeve Cathy Regier says Ivan is a relationship-builder, problem-solver and results oriented leader. Regier adds she is confident he will ensure the Township continues to be a great place to live and grow.
Burton replaces Robert Tremblay who has accepted a position as the CAO for the Town of Renfrew.
