Work is underway to install automated temperature monitoring at both long-term care homes operated by the County of Renfrew, Bonnechere Manor and Miramichi Lodge.
To compensate for the high temperatures experienced in May, Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew purchased and installed portable air-conditioning units to ensure cooling areas for residents.
The long-term care home in Renfrew is submitting daily building temperature and humidity readings in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
Temperatures must be documented in at least two resident bedrooms in different parts of the home, one common area on every floor of the home and every designated cooling area.
Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew has installed automated temperature monitoring systems by Blue Rover Technology and Miramichi Lodge in Pembroke is in the process of doing the same.
The technology will send notifications of temperature abnormalities to management staff.
