The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP has charged one person for assault with a weapon and drug related offences after an incident in Pembroke. Around 6:00pm on Saturday, June 11th, police responded to an altercation in the 1200 block of Pembroke Street West, by the Pembroke No Frills and Value Village. The OPP says one person was assaulted with a weapon and sustained minor injuries. Officers located a vehicle a short distance away on Pembroke Street West and seized suspected methamphetamines and an edged weapon.
38-year-old Maxime Fortin of North Algona Wilberforce has been charged with:
- Assault with a weapon
- Operation while impaired by drugs
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Failure to comply with undertaking – two counts
- Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine
The accused had their drivers license suspended for 90-days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for a week. The accused remains in custody with a court date on June 14th, 2022.
