Greater Arnprior Seniors’ spokesperson Darrel O’Shaughnessy had been throwing strikes up until his June 7th presentation to elected representatives in McNab-Braeside.
The GASC spokesperson was there to ask for seven thousand dollars in seed money to continue to flesh out a plan to acquire the Christian Education Centre on John Street in Arnprior and convert it to a facility that would house both the Seniors Active Living Centre and the Men’s Shed.
All of the other partners in O’Shaughnessy’s proposed acquisition consortium had committed their requested seven thousand dollar share, which would establish whether the plan is feasible, but McNab-Braeside Council and staff were hesitant.
They worried that the initial commitment would lock them into coughing up bigger bucks to see the initiative through.
O’Shaughnessy believes there’s no other location big enough to meet the need of his organizations.
Council accepted O’Shaughnessy’s presentation and is anticipated to reply in the near future.
