The Town of Renfrew has declared June 19th as the Longest Day of Smiles in town.
Mayor Don Eady read the proclamation at the May 24th Town Council meeting, which was passed unanimously by council.
The Longest Day of Smiles is a charitable effort put on by Operation Smile Canada, providing surgery for children born with a cleft condition smile.
The day encourages community ambassadors to raise funds and awareness for the condition, as well as the surgery and care that Operation Smile Canada calls life changing.
While the town has no official plans for the day as of yet, town clerks tell myFM the hope for the day is to get people aware of the need for the surgeries and to encourage donations towards the cause.
