Roughly 900 additional voters in North Algona Wilberforce will be headed to the Rankin Cultural & Recreation Centre (20 Rink Road) on election day this week. Returning Elections Officer for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, Lewis MacDonald, says it was unsafe for voters to head to the township because of black mold.
With the changes so close to election day, updated voter information cards will not be issued to local residents. Lewis says they will have signs up outside of the township office and in high visibility areas around Eganville and Lake Dore to let people know about the changes in voting locations.
Lewis says they have enough staff and space to be able to handle to additional flow of voters.
The provincial election is set for Thursday, June 2nd, 2022.
There are seven candidates running in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke including; Anna Dolan of the Green Party, Oliver Jacob with the Ontario Liberal Party, Ontario Party candidate Kade MacWilliams, New Blue candidate Thomas O’Conner, Kurt Stoll with the NDP, Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party candidate Murray Reid and PC Party of Ontario candidate John Yakabuski.
