Following last weekend’s violent storm, the Gillies Grove Nature Reserve in Arnprior is closed to the public until further notice.
Megan Quinn, the coordinator of conservation biology with the Nature Conservancy of Canada, says the site’s condition is way better than what she had feared.
Quinn can’t speculate when the task of cleaning up Gillies Grove will be finished, but she tells myFM that the task will begin Saturday.
The coordinator of conservation biology reminds us the Grove is home to Ontario’s tallest tree.
Quinn says they will welcome volunteers once the crew of arborists deems it physically safe to do so, and you can register to help out at on.volunteers@natureconservancy.ca
As well, donations to help defray clean-up expenses are appreciated to natureconservancy.ca/on-stewardship and specify that your contribution is for Gillies Grove.
