Killaloe residents are invited to talk about affordable housing at an upcoming public meeting.
The get-together is at the Killaloe Lions Hall at 7pm on May 25th. Ish Theilheimer, who’s hosting the event, believes that young families and workers are being squeezed out the market at housing prices explode.
The meeting will gauge interest in a non-profit or cooperative housing project similar to one in Eganville. Theilheimer notes a similar project in Killaloe could take ten years to make a reality, but notes that the federal government has money available for such a project.
The Manager of Housing and Homelessness for Renfrew County’s Community Services Department, Jennifer Dombroskie, will be on hand, as well as Glenn Allen, who has four decades of experience in non-profit housing management.
Theilheimer has also invited representatives from the surrounding townships to take part.
