The County of Renfrew is letting drivers know that clean up efforts continue in the region and an emergency road closure is in place.
This comes after a massive storm on Saturday (May 21st, 2022), knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes in the Ottawa Valley.
The OPP has confirmed one person was killed from a falling tree in Greater Madawaska.
The County says clean up efforts from yesterday’s storm continue in Greater Madawaska, the hardest hit area in the region.
Emergency road closures are in place on Centennial Lake Road (County Road 65) near Centennial Drive due to debris and downed power lines.
It’s not known when the road will reopen, but updates can be found online here.
The county says the Emergency Response Group in Greater Madawaska is meeting this morning to discuss the current situation and next steps.
Hydro One is urging everyone to stay 10 meters back from any downed power lines even if they don’t appear to be live.
