May 15 through the 21st is officially Victims and Survivors of Crime Week in Renfrew.
Mayor Don Eady and Town Council passed a motion at their Tuesday, May 10th meeting that dedicates the week to stirring up conversations on the impact that crime has within our community, as well as promoting services and laws in place to help victims, survivors, and their families.
Mayor Eady read the proposal to council, which notes that victims of crime deserve the support of their community, and that racialized members of a community are often disproportionally impacted.
He added that a committed crime does not affect just one person, but also their families and the community as a whole.
