A dramatic rescue near Quyon Sunday evening sees CityNews quoting a report from the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police service on the role of a good samaritan.
Police say a pair of Ottawa residents were rescued by a nearby citizen after their canoe capsized in the Ottawa River.
The man and woman, each in their 20s had tried to call 911 but as their cellphones had been submerged they had difficulty getting through.
Fire crews were dispatched to search for the pair, but a local resident hears them shouting for help and managed to pull them out of the drink.
The two Ottawans, who were wearing life jackets, were saved after about a 15 minute ordeal in the river near Chemin Dion in Quyon- and police were notified by his friend.
There were no injuries.
