The local hockey community is coming together to support one of their own. Todd Clarke, an Assistant Coach with the Pembroke Lumber Kings this past season has been re-diagnosed with cancer and is currently going through treatment until October. A GoFundMe account has been set up in his honour by Jason Spencer who says it’s expected to be a battle and anything to support the family would be greatly appreciated.
Spencer tells myFM that he’s not surprised by almost $13,000 in donations already.
The family friend says that Todd is to humble to ask for help, so it’s good to know he has the support of the hockey community.
Former owners of the Lumber Kings organization are noted as top fundraisers, such as Dale McTavish and Sheldon Keefe. The Renfrew Wolves hockey club has also planned a ball hockey tournament as a fundraiser for the Clarke Family as well. For the past couple years, Clarke has raised nearly $15, 000 for Movember, raising money for cancer research. Todd started his chemo this week. He is in good spirits and ready to take on the challenge again. When using social media you’re encouraged to use #GoClarkieGo. To make a donation, Click Here
