The County of Renfrew will have a new Warden before the end of the year. Current Warden and Reeve of Laurentian Valley, Debbie Robinson, has announced her plans to step back from municipal politics after 16-years. Robinson says the time was right for her to step back to spend more time with family and let others pave the way for the future of Renfrew County and Township of Laurentian Valley.
Robinson talked about being involved in creating the strategic plan for Laurentian Valley, rebranding the Township with a new logo, building relationships with senior levels of government, starting the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre during the pandemic and establishing a reconciliation garden to recognize we are on the traditional unceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin People.
The Warden says her last day will be November 14th, 2022 and she plans to work right up until the end. On November 15th, she says Christmas decorating will begin around the Robinson household with a family trip planned in the spring of 2023.
Robinson says will continue to be involved in health care in the community even after stepping back from municipal politics.
