Cheryl Gallant, our Member of Parliament for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, rose during Question Period Wednesday (May 4th) to ask the government why military spy planes were deployed during demonstrations in Ottawa last February.
The MP says the government’s denial flies in the face of the evidence.
Gallant does not recall an admission from the Feds that the National Defence Act had been invoked in connection with the surveillance flight.
Although the MP’s questions are often directed towards the Prime Minister, it is not often that Justin Trudeau directly responds- but in this case the PM rose to assert that the surveillance flight referred to by Gallant had been scheduled months before hand, and the flight’s appearance over Parliament Hill during the Freedom Convoy was a simple coincidence.
Trudeau then suggested Gallant’s query borders on deliberate disinformation.
The article to which the MP refers was published in the Ottawa Citizen of May 3rd.
