Coping with dementia is the thing; it’s never easy for those afflicted, or their families.
A week of activities is being coordinated locally, according to Catharina Van Es of the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County.
Van Es says the flag ceremony goes May 6th, followed by an Information Fair on Saturday at the Nick Smith Centre.
The Saturday event begins with opening ceremonies at 10:30, followed dialogue at the information tables from 11-3PM.
The Lions Club will serve a light lunch, and there will be activities to entertain the kids.
Van Es says the proven strategy is to meet those experiencing dementia in the reality of their particular moment; to meet them where they are at, and converse accordingly.
