Finnigan's Road House brought an outdoor patio proposal to Town Council on Tuesday, April 26
Restaurants in downtown Renfrew are getting ready for patio season this summer.
Town Council heard a proposal at Tuesday’s meeting from Finnigan’s Road House for one such encroachment allowing for patrons to eat outside in front of the Raglan Street entrance as pedestrians move freely on a wooden boardwalk built over nearby parking lots.
Town Planner Eric Withers presented the proposal to council, which is similar to the patio that was built outside the restaurant last year. He mentioned that the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions means the sneeze guards in place between foot traffic and diners will not be needed this year.
However, Withers also noted that, starting this year, seasonal patio agreements in the Town of Renfrew will come with a stronger set of provisions that will allow council to better enforce health and safety guidelines, including for compliance with any potentially returning COVID-19 protocols.
Withers says he’s already received patio proposals from other restaurants, which will see Council in the near future.
