The Council of Canadians isn’t known for doing things in a small way- and the Kitchissippi-Ottawa Valley Chapter is no exception.
A six woman local planning committee has undertaken to accept a challenge from child activist Greta Thunberg to promote expressions of what youth are feeling about the environment.
The local project is taking the form of a multi-media exhibition that will debut online this Earth Day, April 22nd.
Entitled, Our World, Our Future: Valley Children and (the) Youth Earth Day Arts Project, there will also be satellite depots where some of the physical submissions will be displayed.
Spokesperson Ann Pohl describes the initiative’s mission statement.
Kitchissippi-Ottawa Valley Chapter submissions can be artwork of any sort- preferably on smaller canvasses for ease of transportation, or, efforts can either be written or spoken word on memory sticks, as well as multi-media art.
There will be physical drop-off locations for the art, submissions can be left at the Community Resource Centre (Killaloe), Calvin United Church (Pembroke), and The Art Factory (Renfrew) or pick-up can be easily arranged.
Smaller pieces of visual art (12×18? or less), videos, or written pieces will be easiest to accommodate. We also welcome onlink links or memory sticks with performance art. The last day we accept submissions is April 8th.
