As winter is on the wane, comes concerns for the impact of the Spring Freshet- and the threat of flooding as occurred in our area in the Springs of 2017 and 2019.
Arnprior Mayor Walter Stack says it is an annual exercise for Ontario Power Generation to host information sessions on water conditions for both the Madawaska and Ottawa Rivers.
The Mayor says officials are A-OK with what they are seeing thus far.
Stack says torrents of Spring rain were the variable that caused the Ottawa River to flood in 2017- and that’s an unpredictable commodity.
The Mayor says members of the Fire Department went door-to-door in flood-prone areas of Arnprior Tuesday, sharing Stack’s Freshet briefing with residents and asking them to be on alert to the potential danger.
