There’s a fundraiser this weekend to support people impacted by the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine. The event will take place at the Pembroke Germania Club, located at 15 Bennett Street in the City of Pembroke. Club President Shannon Boucher says for $10 you get Borscht, a bun and proceeds raised will go to support families in need in Ukraine.
She adds they will also have live entertainment and hopes to welcome hundreds of people through the doors on Saturday.
The doors at the Germania Club open at 4:30pm on Saturday (March 12th, 2022).
Boucher says they have a goal to raise $5,000.
Donations from the fundraiser this weekend will go to support the World Central Kitchen and International Committee of the Red Cross with efforts in Ukraine.
Items for the soup have been donated by members in the community and will be made by different teams. Boucher wanted to thank the community for their overwhelming support leading up to the event this weekend.
More information about the upcoming event is available online by following the Soup & Support for Ukraine at Germania Pembroke page on Facebook.
For those not able to attend the event, but still want to show support, donations are accepted by the Germania Club through e-transfer at club@germaniapembroke.ca
