There’s a new head coach for the Valley Timberwolves in Eganville. The local hockey team now has Gregg Kennedy behind the bench making calls. Kennedy comes to the Timberwolves with over 40-years of coaching experience starting out as a teenager in 1981.
Kennedy says he attended York University and studied coaching with Dave Chambers as his mentor. When he came back to Ottawa he says he coached at Carleton University, for the Nepean Raiders, at the Triple A level, and one year of Junior B. He says his most recent coaching stint was with the GMHL in Alberta.
The new head coach of the Valley Timberwolves says he’s trying to provide the players with some stability down the stretch and get them through the season. Kennedy says this is a group of 17 to 20 players who are just looking to play hockey. He adds the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on all levels of hockey across Canada.
Kennedy is joined by assistant coaches Chris Burns and Gord Aitchison behind the bench with Kevin Johnston the trainer and equipment manager for the Valley Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves have a busy schedule with three games in three days. The team travels to Westport Friday night (Feb. 25th) for a 7:30pm game. On Saturday night (Feb. 26th), Westport will play at the Eganville Arena at 7:30pm and Sunday night Perth is in Eganville against the Timberwolves with puck drop for 6:00pm.
