The County of Renfrew is taking precautions in advance of a rumored protest at its administrative offices in Pembroke. The staff has been notified by the OPP of the potential action allegedly slated for this Saturday. A number of precautions are being affected. Barricades are being installed blocking the entrances at 7 and 9 International Drive. Signage will be erected indicating “No Public Access” and ” County Employees Only”. Staff will ensure that any materials that aren’t “locked down” are moved to a secure site, and will look at moving vehicles that normally remain on-site to other locations. County staff will also monitor the property throughout the day, as will an OPP presence. The County Administration building is considered critical infrastructure and as such the Trespass to Property Act will be enforced should the barricades be disregarded.
