Vaccine clinic attendance across Renfrew County and District has declined resulting in the cancellation of several clinic dates.
Deputy Paramedic Chief Mathieu Grenier provided an update to the County of Renfrew Health Committee on Wednesday morning (February 9th, 2022).
Grenier says clinics in Pembroke, Renfrew and Arnprior will be reduced to one each week in February, freeing up paramedic resources to complete vaccines in homes, retirement homes, congregate care settings and schools.
Once these groups have been completed, pop-up clinics will be established in various municipalities.
He adds the County of Renfrew Paramedic Service is also waiting for the 12-17-year-old cohort to become eligible for booster shots and demographics will be analyzed and vaccine team resources deployed to best serve the population.
At the end of January, over 91% of residents over the age of 12 had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine with over 88% double vaccinated.
The deputy paramedic chief told members of the health committee fourth doses of the vaccine are being administered at local long-term care homes and over half of those eligible in the region have received a booster shot.
