Tumultuous times in the Conservative Party only prepare it for a brighter future, according to Renfrew Nippising Pembroke MP Cheryl Gallant.
The local member notes that, under outgoing leader Erin O’Toole, the Tories captured the largest share of the popular vote in the 2021 election.
Gallant believes interim leader Candice Bergen has a demonstrated track record.
Bergen was chosen to lead the party Wednesday evening (February 2nd) after O’Toole lost a federal caucus confidence vote.
The Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke expects the leadership transition process will likely take six months, and encourages local residents who wish to have a say, and are not current Conservative members to sign up.
Erin O’Toole served as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada from August of 2020 until day before yesterday.
