The Town of Renfrew has entered into a service agreement with the County of Renfrew to provide human resources (HR) staffing support.
The town will pay the county $60,000 in 2022 and in return have a full-time staff member assist with HR matters up to three days per week.
Councillor Sandi Heins says she is glad to see a work plan in place as the recruitment of a Treasurer and Fire Chief are important priorities.
Reeve Peter Emon says having the plan in place is important, but he wants to ensure this is not a revenue generator for the county and the town gets good value for the service.
The proposed service agreement will provide the Town of Renfrew with access to all of the County’s HR Department expertise.
County staff can be available to work on-site in Renfrew as required by the Town, with the understanding that Pembroke is their permanent work location.
Town council has authorized staff to enter into a contact with the County of Renfrew to provide HR services for a 5-year period.
While it is a 5-year contract, there is a termination clause of 180 days.
