The new Pfizer COVID pill is not the game changer many are hoping, according to Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit.
Dr. Cushman says that, in addition to supply issues, the pill is rather costly- up to 500 dollars US per prescription.
Because of the price, Cushman says vaccination is still the route to fight the virus- but there is some parental resistance, which puts the youngest of our children at particular risk.
The Acting Medical Officer of Health advises parents should inform themselves of the benefits of the vaccine, and that will reduce COVID risks in the entire community.
