The province of Quebec is the first in Canada to announce fines for those who choose to not get the COVID-19 vaccine.
This afternoon (Tuesday, January 11th, 2022), Premier Francois Legault announced Quebec residents who do not have a valid medical exemption will have to pay a “health contribution”.
No set amount for the fines have been determined, but it’s expected to be a significant amount.
Last week Quebec announced proof of vaccination will be required to enter liquor and cannabis stores and the province is considering extended restrictions to even more businesses.
More details to come.
