The Finance Department for the Town of Arnprior laid out its budget recommendations for 2022 in an hour-plus presentation to elected representatives Monday (January 10th).
The municipality needs more money to put into reserves to meet its Asset Management targets, needed studies, accessibility objectives, and pay for things that are costing more.
Because the Town continues to grow rapidly there’s an extra 307 thousand dollars in new development revenue and staff want to combine that with a one percent increase in local assessment, according to Treasurer Jennifer Morawiec.
Morawiec has broken down the increase to a formula based on 100 thousand dollars of residential assessment. That amount is 74 cents a month, or $8.87 a year.
Elected representatives have until February 7th and 8th to review the data.
There are back-to-back budget meetings starting at 5PM those evenings, with 2022 budget approval to take place at Council’s regular session, February 14th.
