Whitewater Region is letting residents know about some local impacts as a result of the evolving COVID-19 situation.
The Township plans to close all three arenas (Beachburg, Cobden and Westmeath) on January 1st, 2022.
Community halls including the main office and in Westmeath are being suspended.
The Whitewater Seniors Centre in Beachburg will also be closed for walk-ins, but staff can be reached by email at seniors@whitewaterregion.ca or phone at 1-833-582-7004.
These facilities will not open any earlier than January 17th, 2022.
Essential services including administration, building and planning, curbside pick-up, landfill, fire response, water/sewer, and winter road maintenance continue to operate.
Clients will continue to be served at the front counter at 44 Main Street in Cobden during regular business hours, however the municipal office is closed on Monday (January 3rd, 2022).
If possible, payments should be done online, dropped off in the after hours drop box, or Pre-Authorized Payments can be arranged.
Some staff may be working remotely; however, they will be available via telephone or email.
Council and other meetings will be held virtually for the month of January.
Whitewater Region Mayor Michael Moore says we must remain vigilant in our efforts to ensure everyone’s wellness and safety, including municipal staff.
Additional information will be shared as available on the municipal website.
