Everyone understands your concerns about the latest COVID-19 variant, Omicron, but your local hospital’s ER is not the place to allay your fears.
While Emergency does have limited numbers of PCR tests, the supply is for departmental use and not available to the general public- so if you need a test for travel reasons, or post-holiday reassurance and have no symptoms, do not come to ER and overload the facilities.
The correct procedure is to follow the current public health guidelines and if you are showing any symptoms of COVID, call Renfrew County VTAC (1-844-727-6404) to make a test appointment, or check the list of participating pharmacies on Ontario.ca.
Anyone experiencing an emergent or urgent condition, such as heart attack, stroke or severe injury, should visit the Emergency Department or dial 911.
