The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) says the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine supply is limited in the region.
The health unit says they plan to work with the province to get more supply as it becomes available.
The Pfizer mRNA COVID-19 vaccine will be reserved for people under the age of 30 until further notice (for 1st, 2nd or 3rd doses).
Those over the age of 30 will be offered the Moderna vaccine.
The RCDHU says people over 70 will get a full dose, and people under 70 will receive half a dose.
The health unit says mixing COVID-19 vaccines is safe, effective, and enables Ontarians to benefit from the protection of a booster dose.
The RCDHU says both the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines provide strong protection against COVID-19 and its variants.
Booster doses are being accelerated due to growing concerns about the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
