The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has released the weekly COVID-19 case summary.
According to information released this afternoon (December 16th, 2021) by the RCDHU, the number of new cases in our area has decreased week-over-week, but hospital and intensive care unit (ICU) admissions are on the rise.
Last week the local health unit reported 58 new COVID-19 infections compared to 21 cases in the last 7-days.
The number of active cases in the region has also dropped from 59 to 26 with no additional deaths reported.
Ten of the new cases are in community members, one is a healthcare worker employed in Renfrew County, one staff member and nine students at either a school or daycare have all tested positive for the virus in the last week.
The local health unit is noting two local residents are currently in the hospital and one person is in the ICU after testing positive for COVID-19.
The RCDHU is also reporting three school outbreaks, down from five last week, and two workplace outbreaks, the same number as last week.
