A provincial bill aiming to champion work-life balance has passed at Queen’s Park.
Dubbed the ‘Working for Workers Act’, it forces employers with over 25 employees to develop a written policy outlining what are worker rights after hours.
President of Renfrew and Area Chamber of Commerce, Tom Sidney isn’t sure what kind of local impact it’ll have, but hopes it’ll quell workplace burnout.
The Act also bans ‘Non-compete clauses’, contracts some employers force their employees to sign promising to not look for other work while maintaining employment.
