The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has administered almost 160,000 vaccine doses as of their November 22nd reporting date, meaning 89.4% of the population has received a first dose, and 86.4% have had both shots.
The big push now is for children ages 5-11 to get vaccinated as a special Pfizer serum has now been approved for kids in this population category.
Children must receive their vaccinations only at a special clinic dedicated to their demographic- or at a pharmacy, and the RCDHU is encouraging this be done as quickly as possible.
As well the Health Unit wants to see more uptake among pregnant mothers and moms-to-be.
The vaccines are safe, and will protect you from serious illness during pregnancy.
Those who qualify for a third, booster dose can now book it if your second shot was administered on or before June 7th.
