One of the items interrupted by the COVID pandemic was the four-year re-evaluation of property assessments, meaning homeowners’ local taxes are being calculated on what their properties were worth back in 2016.
It’s a concern for Arnprior County Councillor Dan Lynch.
Lynch says there will be quite a few surprises when the day of reckoning finally occurs.
Mayor Stack say the conventional formula of adjusting a home’s valuation by 25 percent over a four year interval won’t work this time, but no alternatives have yet been suggested.
