You’ll recall that the emergency crews responded to the house fire on Fortington Street around 1pm Monday afternoon. Renfrew OPP confirm that two bodies have been found in the home. Police are treating the fire as suspicious and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office will be attending the scene to investigate. The Renfrew and Killaloe OPP Crime Units, the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit and the East Region Support Team are assisting with the investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
No names have been released as this point.
Police remain at the scene and a portion of Fortington Street remains closed between Veterans Memorial Boulevard and Park Avenue. Local detours are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
