The Samaritan’s Purse annual shoebox collection season is officially underway.

Media relations manager Frank King says since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and distributed more than 187-million shoebox gifts in over 100 countries.

There are drop off locations in Pembroke, Arnprior and Shawville. You can also enter your postal code online to find a nearby drop off location.

The National Shoebox Collection Week runs from November 15th to November 21st, but King says you can support this year’s campaign up until Christmas online through PackABox.ca.

As part of Operation Christmas Child, shoeboxes are packed with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items, plus personal notes and photos, to be delivered to children in need around the world.

King adds it’s a great tool for parents to teach kids that Christmas isn’t just about you getting gifts, it’s also a time to help the less fortunate.

Dentations can also be made online, by phone or mailed in (Samaritan’s Purse Canada, 20 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary, Alberta, T3J 5H5).
